I live in the part of the United States where big rivers dominate the landscape, specifically the Allegheny, the Monongahela and the Ohio. Pittsburgh is located at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers in southwest Pennsylvania. The part of Pittsburgh where I live draws its water from the Allegheny River Watershed. The city of Pittsburgh draws water from the same watershed. I am interested in both the beauty of the landscape and the industrial scars we have inherited. The Allegheny River has been my subject this past year and continues to be.
Aaron McGregor and I both exhibited at Art All Night in 2009. We met at the ending of the show in the artist's exit line. Aaron is a professional photographer who takes close ups of water and reflections that show the effects on mining. His subject is also within the Allegheny River Watershed. We both felt our work is related in it's connection to the watershed we live in. We agreed to exhibit together at the Rachel Carson Sustainable Feast on May 24th, 2009.
